Teaching & mentoring

Curiosity drives discovery.

The most impactful teaching does not simply transfer knowledge—it empowers students to learn independently and apply theory to new aerospace challenges.

“You can teach a student a lesson for a day, but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives.”

Teaching philosophy

From foundations to professional practice.

Courses combine theoretical foundations with practical applications, research-inspired problems, and hands-on activities. The goal is to cultivate analytical rigor, creativity, and the ability to translate knowledge into real-world solutions.

Pedagogical training

Through the Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning Network, Dr. D’Ambrosio earned CIRTL Associate and Practitioner certifications and completed training in evidence-based undergraduate STEM teaching, inclusive pedagogy, active learning, and mentored teaching practice.

Mentoring philosophy

Inclusive, growth-oriented, and rigorous.

Mentoring is tailored to each student’s needs and aspirations while fostering intellectual curiosity, ethical integrity, independence, and professional growth.

My mentorship emphasizes:

  • Clear goal-setting and accountability.
  • Supporting student success and professional development.
  • Constructive feedback through regular individual and group meetings.
  • A respectful, collaborative laboratory culture grounded in ethical conduct, trust, communication, and mutual growth.
